Recent set of spy-shots reveal the new Hyundai Celestia sedan for China while the car would have actually debut at Beijing Auto Show next year. Hyundai has carefully positioned the car in between Verna and Elantra, providing it those needed additions for the segment in which it falls. This takes the total number of sedans within Hyundai lineup to 10. Celestia measures 4510 mm in length, 1756 mm in width and 1470 mm in height. It claims a wheelbase of 2650 mm.
The wheelbase is actually just 25 mm short of Elantra while the overall length is also just 93 mm short only. This makes a strange case for Celestia with questions rising about it actual need and practical existence. However, it is offered with just 1.6 L Petrol motor from Verna and Elantra, producing 120 HP and 155 Nm of max torque.
The design language is quite similar to the latest generation of Verna and Elantra, claiming nearly the same tail end with integrated spoiler and exciting LED tail lights. There is no word on the launch of Celesta in India while the Chinese market entry would be soon after April 2017. It will be priced between 80,000 – 1,10,000 yuan (INR 7.90 – 10.90 lakh).
