BS6 Hyundai Santro Hatchback Launched in India: Hyundai has officially launched the BS6-compliant version of the Santro hatchback in India. The car is available in four variants while getting a starting price tag of INR 4.57 lakh for its base ‘Era Executive’ variant.
Mechanically, the car continues to feature the same 1.1-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine which is now BS6-compliant. It churns our 68 HP of maximum power at 5500 rpm along with 99 Nm of peak torque at 4500 rpm. It comes mated with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
Hyundai’s popular hatchback Santro is also available with a factory-fitted CNG kit. When the car is running on CNG, the engine produces 58HP of maximum power at 5500 rpm and 84Nm of peak torque at 4500 rpm. It comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission only.
The design statement of the car remains unchanged as the only update this hatchback has received is in the form of its engine. It continues to come featured with chromed cascading grille, dual-tone interior, touchscreen infotainment screen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, rear air conditioning vents, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensor, and swept-back headlights.
To celebrate the brand’s two decades of presence in the Indian market, the new-gen model of the iconic Santro marked its debut in October 2018. At the time of its launch, Santro was able to register a good number of sales figures but after the launch of the new Maruti Suzuki WagonR, its sales dropped gradually. Here is the variant-wise price list for the BS6 Hyundai Santro.
