Next-Gen Hyundai Verna Registers 15,000 Bookings

Hyundai recently launched its all-new 2017 Verna in India. The new generation sedan will prove to be a game changer for the company as it looks quite ready to reclaim its position in the market. The Next-Gen Hyundai Verna was launched in India at an introductory price of ₹ 7.99 lakh to ₹ 12.87 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Hyundai India has already sold over 5,000 units of the new-gen Hyundai Verna and the car has crossed the 15,000 bookings of milestone recently. The sedan was able to gather 7,000 units of bookings within only a few days of launch and the numbers are expected to rise many fold. Hyundai is closing in on its target to deliver 10,000 units of the car by Diwali, next month.

Next-Gen Hyundai Verna Registers 15,000 Bookings

Hyundai offers the 2017 Verna with 1.6-litre Dual VTVT petrol and 1.6-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine options. The petrol engine develops 123 PS at 6,400 rpm and 15.4 kg.m (151.02 Nm) of torque at 4,850 rpm. The diesel engine produces 128 PS at 4,000 rpm and 26.5 kg.m (259.88 Nm) of torque from 1,500-3,000 rpm. 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic are the transmission choices.

At the launch event, Hyundai announced that the prices of the sedan are introductory and would be revised once the bookings reach 20,000 units. Though, with the recent hike in the cess on cars in India, a hike of around Rs 29,000 has already been implemented. The all-new Hyundai Verna competes in the market with Honda City, the Maruti Ciaz, the Skoda Rapid and the Volkswagen Vento.

Many safety features are standard across all the new Verna models, so even the base model comes with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, central locking, seat belt pre-tensioners for driver and passenger, and ISOFIX child seat mounts among others. The top-end trim gets side and curtain airbags bringing the total to 6 airbags, and smart key for key-less entry. All of this puts the new gen Verna at a great advantage in comparison to its competitors.
