Jeep shocked the Indian buyers with its highly priced cars last year. The starting price for its Wrangler was well above INR 70 lakh while the Grand Cherokee was known for the number of zeroes in its price tag. According to the latest details available, 2017 Jeep Compass will make its debut in India on April 12 and it will officially go on-sale in India around August-September 2017. The bookings for the same are expected to start soon at the dealerships with a token price of INR 1 lakh.
2017 Jeep Compass SUV to Make India Debut on April 12
Compass will be placed well in the INR 20-25 lakh price segment. The local production benefits will be effectively passed on to the buyers as the car will be produced at the Tata-Fiat plant in India itself. It would be the most affordable product for Indian market as Jeep Renegade has no scope for production and sale in our country. Jeep will even produce the same in Brazil, Mexico and China. It would definitely act as sale booster for the off-road brand.
Jeep Compass carries the new Global architecture and design language, sharing its basic design with Grand Cherokee at both the ends. It gets a lot of chrome and will even support dual tone paint finish on its body. It gets Jeep style alloy wheels, large infotainment screen and most of the off-road friendly features of the Jeep brand. The car will feature both petrol and diesel engines with Jeep’s 4WD Active Drive Low system. It features a 2.0 L Tigershark Flex engine with 6-speed AT for the Brazilian market. The other one is a 2.0 L MultiJet II engine with a 9-speed AT.
