Jeep India is ready for the official launch of Wrangler as well as the Grand Cherokee in India on 1st September 2016. They will initially enter with 6 dealerships while the SRT performance brand is also debut on the same event.
The Indian Wrangler will be the extended wheelbase version known as Wrangler Unlimited. It will be powered by a 2.8L CRD Turbo Diesel DOHC I-4 engine, generating maximum power of 197.1 bhp @ 3600 rpm, with maximum torque of 460 Nm @ 1600–2000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-Speed Automatic Transmission. Jeep Wrangler is expected to be priced around Rs 40 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Jeep Grand Cherokee will be available in 3 trims namely Limited, Summit, and SRT. The third one is the high power performance version of this massive SUV, carrying a commanding stance while keeping the race genes of the SRT brand alive. The 6.4 L Hemi V8 on the Grand Cherokee SRT is good for 475 HP and uses Brembo high performance brakes as well as active damping suspension.
Jeep all-set to launch Wrangler & Grand Cherokee in India
These two models would be sold as CBU’s in the country, raising the prices to around INR 80 lakh for the Grand Cherokee while taking the SRT version over the INR 1 Crore mark. Jeep also plans to locally produce a third model in the year 2017. Adding more dealerships in the future would be the first preference for the Jeep brand in India.
