Jeep has officially launched the off-road version of their premium compact SUV by the name Compass Trailhawk at a price tag of INR 26.80 Lakh (ex-showroom). The bookings for the SUV were already open since June 11 at every Jeep dealership across India at a token amount of INR 50,000. The all-new Trailhawk edition of the Compass is INR 3.70 lakh costlier than its existing highest spec variant, Compass Limited Plus, which is available for INR 23.11 Lakh (ex-showroom).
Powering the Jeep Compass Trailhawk is the similar 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel Multijet II engine that performs the duty on the ongoing Jeep Compass variants though the engine is in compliant with BS6 norms for the new edition. The SUV generates a maximum power of 173 HP with a peak torque of 350 Nm. The engine has been mated to a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. One of the major reasons for the increased price tag for the Trailhawk edition is the diesel-automatic version offered by the brand.
The Trailhawk edition has been equipped with Jeep’s ‘Active Drive Low 4×4 system’ that offers the SUV better off-road capabilities and aids them to cover the different terrains with ease. In addition to the Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud modes, the all-new edition of the sub-compact SUV features a low-range, hill-descent control mode as well as Rock Mode for selected terrain.
Coming to the interior, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk gets similar premium functionality when compared to the Limited Plus Edition. It features a 7.0-inch multi-info display, an 8.4-inch infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control as well as automatic climate control. The off-road SUV also features keyless go and auto start/stop function though the manufacturers have given the panoramic roof a miss for the same, the customers can still avail it as an accessory.
The standard safety features for the Trailhawk includes ABS with EBD, 6 airbags, electronic parking brake, traction control, hill-assist control and more. The all-new Jeep Compass Trailhawk competes in the market with the likes of Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner considering its cost-effectiveness for an off-road SUV.
