Jeep Compass Waiting Period Goes Up To 3-5 Months

Jeep Compass became a hot product right from the first day of its official unveil, gathering more than 5000 bookings before its price became public on July 31, 2017. Number of buyers for Compass are increasing at a much faster rate, pushing the car into 3-5 months waiting in most major cities of India.

The starting price of INR 14.95 lakh was enough to compel buyers from various segments into Jeep dealerships. Till date, only diesel variants have been delivered to selected buyers on August 5 while petrol Compass will make its way later into the Indian market.

Compass would stay a star product as no other brand with such strong image will offer products in this segment in coming months. The recent report of hiking the cess on bigger cars may create problems for brands like Jeep as they will have to push the prices up by around INR 1.5-2 lakh if the taxes (GST cess) goes up by 10 percent.

The after effect of this move will be seen with downfall of sales of certain products. Jeep Compass rivals each car that falls within Renault Duster and Hyundai Tucson in the Indian market. You can even go for a full spec comparison of 9 cars here.

Jeep Compass comes with a powerful 2.0L, 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 173 PS and 350 Nm of torque. The engine currently comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The petrol variant is powered by a 1.4L turbocharged petrol engine producing 162 PS and 250 Nm of torque.

It gets an addition of 7-speed AT gearbox with the top spec variant. Jeep will soon offer an automatic variant for diesel engine, pricing the same for about INR 23 lakh (if the current prices stay intact). The top spec Limited and Limited (O) variants are offered with 4×4 as an option in the diesel engine Compass.
