The first set of teaser images of the upcoming Kia compact SUV has been officially revealed by the brand. Expected to be unveiled at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020, the all-new SUV from Kia will be the smallest model from the brand that will hit the Indian shores sometime in late 2020. The brand has codenamed the new compact SUV as Kia QYi internally.
The upcoming SUV from the carmaker will be launched in India under the four-metres category while competing in the market with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V and more.
According to the reports, the compact SUV from Kia will be based on the underpinnings of the Hyundai Venue though the interior and exterior profile will be based on the unique legacy possessed by the brand. As per the teaser photos, the Kia QYi SUV has been equipped with a tiger-nose grille upfront which further features honeycomb-patterned inserts as seen in other Kia models.
In addition to this, the front fascia features a muscular bumper design with fog lamps integrated neatly. The Kia Compact SUV has been equipped standard LED headlight setup which is further mated to LED DRLs while features unique air vents just below them.
The flat bumper design from the sides is further complemented by the use of the black body cladding on the wheel arches. The brand is expected to equip the production model of the SUV with 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, though the concept variant of the SUV will feature larger wheels.
The overall outlook of the Kia QYi SUV represents a crossover with the roofline flowing neatly towards the rear panel which further features a floating D-pillar design. The rear bumper has been equipped with horizontal LED tail lamps mated to an LED strip running across the centre.
The brand has not revealed any teasers for the upcoming SUV’s interior specifications though it is expected to get all the premium features signifying the brand’s essence. Kia is expected to offer the QYi SUV with similar 1.5-litre BS6 turbo-diesel, a 1.2 petrol, and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine as seen on the Hyundai Venue.
