Kia is preparing to launch its first EV in the Indian market, and it is unquestionably the best EV available. The EV6 is a premium and snazzy electric vehicle based on Hyundai Motor’s e-GMP platform and works on Kia’s “Opposite United” design philosophy. It will be brought into India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit), and only a finite number of 100 units are allocated to the Indian market at the moment. Pre-orders are expected to open on May 26, with the official launch scheduled for June. The Kia EV6 was spotted in Hyderabad, hinting at its launch, and perhaps they wanted to appraise the market.
Specifications which might be presented may comprise the GT-Line variant with a dual e-AWD system combined with a 77.4 kWh battery that delivers a peak power of 320 BHP and a peak torque of 605 Nm. This variant is promised to provide a range of about 425 km on a single charge. A smaller battery variant is also available, which is a 58 kWh battery pack provided in two configurations: rear-wheel drive (RWD) installed with 168 BHP and all-wheel drive with a dual motor setup achieving 235 BHP.
The EV6 includes feature-full cabin styling, integrated screen composition, a modern two-spoke steering, an augmented reality head-up display, several ADAS safety components, a 12-inch display for the digital instrument cluster, and a touchscreen infotainment system.
After being discovered on the Indian streets, its launch is imminent and they might price it above 50 lakh (estimated). The EV6 is Kia’s first car to be based on the company’s unique platform for battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
They are aiming to set up the mid-to-long term strategy for BEVs, plug-in hybrids (PHEV) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) to carry out up to 40% of overall sales by 2030, with an annual sales target of 1.6 million units for the eco-friendly models.
