Mahindra & Mahindra’s latest creations, the XUV700 and the Second Generation Thar brought a cordial reception, and the manufacturer is ready to carry out their forthcoming projects. In a couple of months, Mahindra is set to introduce the New-Gen Scorpio, based on an original platform with a lot of updates, and they will present it in 6 and 7-seater designs.
Mahindra will present the world premiere of 3 Born Electric Vision-based concepts in July 2022, which will advance to production models in the coming years. There is a report that proposes that Mahindra might develop an electric version of the XUV300 and KUV, and the 5-door Thar variant, after a couple of practical tweaks, could be out by 2023.
Thar’s latest version allows it to transition into a lifestyle off-roader, and with the 5-door variant, Mahindra can bolster its portfolio significantly to invite a wider market. The report further hints that Mahindra has acknowledged the 5-door variation and will wholly direct it toward family-based patrons wishing for increased boot space.
By including two extra doors to the existing three-door version, its overall proportions will have to be moved back to support an extensive rear seat, but the off-road potential might be scaled down. It is yet to be determined how the brand will revise the 5-door Thar without hampering its existing specialised character.
The report presumes the specifications and features to be the same as the 3-door Thar, but surely there is an area for a few improvements. As for the engine, the same 2.0-litre mStallion petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk would be utilised and paired with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter AT. Accurate figures are yet to be learned, and assuming it was right now based on a single report, it would go way out of bounds, but we hope it will go up.
