Kia Seltos Technical Specifications Officially Revealed: Kia Motors is all set to make its Indian debut with the launch of the Seltos SUV on August 22, 2019. The brand recently started media drives and has also revealed the technical specifications and detailed feature list of the upcoming car.
The Kia Seltos SUV will be available in three powertrains namely: 1.4-litre GDI petrol engine capable of churning out a maximum power of 140HP and an utmost torque of 242Nm, the 1.5-litre petrol engine offers a maximum power of 115HP and a peak torque of 144Nm while the 1.5-litre VGT diesel engine is good for 115HP and 250Nm of peak torque.
All the engines are mated to a 6-speed manual transmission though the 1.4-litre petrol engine can be further availed with 7-speed DCT, the 1.5-litre petrol engine can be availed with an IVT gearbox, and the diesel engine is also being offered with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The Kia Seltos SUV will be available in two trim levels with three variants under each trim. The Tech lineup gets HTE, HTK and HTX trim whereas the GT lineup gets GTE, GTK and GTX trims. The GT Lineup will be sold with the 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine only whereas the Tech lineup will be available with 1.5-litre petrol or 1.5-litre diesel engine option.
Coming to the design language, the brand is offering the SUV with a light bar on the front grille as a factory-installed unit. The front fascia of the SUV features unique heartbeat DRLs mated to the LED headlamps. The overall extraordinary profile of the SUV makes it stand apart from the rest of the cars in this segment. The SUV will be available in 8 monotone colour options as well as 5 dual-tone paint options. The brand will be offering multiple tyres and alloy wheel options for multiple variants of Kia Seltos.
In terms of interiors, Kia will be offering a touchscreen infotainment system as standard with every variant of the SUV. The entry-level variants are equipped with a 3.8-inch touchscreen while the mid-spec variants have been offered an 8.0-inch touchscreen entertainment system. The top-spec variants of Kia Seltos SUV will further get a 10.25-inch touchscreen.
The second internet car of India after MG Hector, the SUV’s internet-connected technology is known by the name UVO. It offers the passengers with real-time info on vehicle location, collision alert, remote door lock, vehicle tracking, live traffic information and more. Higher variants of the SUV will be offered with multicolour ambient mood lighting in addition to a sound system with Bose speakers.
Expected to be launched with a starting price tag of INR 9.99 lakhs for the base variant, going all the way up to INR 14.99 lakh for the top-spec trim, the Kia Seltos will compete in the Indian market with the likes of Tata Harrier, MG Hector, Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and the Nissan Kicks.
