Mahindra has unveiled the all-electric XUV400, which is based on the compact XUV300 SUV. The XUV400 is the first of the company’s upcoming EV lineup, which will also include the XUV.e and BE models starting in 2024.
The front fascia receives a new closed-off grille with arrowhead-shaped inserts and the ‘Twin Peaks’ logo in the centre. LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) are limited to the main cluster and do not extend to the bumper below. 16-inch alloy wheels are the same as the XUV300 but the tail lamps have new detailing with arrowhead-shaped inserts at the rear.
A 39.4kWh battery pack propels the XUV400 EV with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. It generates a maximum output of 150 hp and 310 Nm. XUV400 has a claimed top speed of 150 km/h and it can speed up from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds, making it the fastest in its class.
Mahindra claims a range of 456km on a single charge based on the Indian driving cycle (MIDC). It takes 50 minutes to charge 0% to 80% with a 50kW DC fast charger. A 7.2 kW/32A outlet takes 6 hours 30 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%.
The XUV400 has an all-black interior with bronze highlights around the AC vents and some switchgear. The dashboard and steering wheel have new gloss black inserts, with the latter also sporting the new bronze Twin Peaks logo. All the switchgear, the analogue instrument cluster with digital MID, and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system are the same.
Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Dual-zone climate control, cruise control, a single-pane sunroof, and connected car technology are all included. Six airbags, an IP67 battery pack, disc brakes on all four wheels, and ISOFIX anchorages are among the safety features.
The XUV400 will be available in five colours: Everest White, Arctic Blue, Infinity Blue, Galaxy Grey, and Napoli Black.
XUV400 will be available for test drives in showrooms beginning in December 2022, with bookings, price announcements, and deliveries beginning in January 2023.
