Mahindra is almost ready for their flagship product launch, with Alturas (XUV700) getting clearer day by day through new spy shots at different locations. Yes, as per a recent report by AutoCarIndia, the SUV will be sold as Alturas in India. The same report has also confirmed the fact that Alturas will launch officially in India on November 26, 2018.
The 3-week period will bring sleepless nights to the SUV fans of India, especially those who are planning to get their hands on Toyota Fortuner or Ford Endeavour but, have a hidden desire to see Rexton in the Mahindra skin. Technically, the Alturas SUV is based on the platform of international spec Ssangyong Rexton, leaving least number of differences like the front grille and branding part.
Mahindra has stayed tight-lipped about the naming details but after the launch of Marazzo, the brand made it clear that their flagship SUV won’t carry an alphanumeric name. Presently, the XUV500 is placed at a sweet spot where buyers looking for premium compact SUV can go go it and get the top spec variant at INR 19,26,399. This typical variant is available with AWD and AT gearbox as standard.
Mahindra Alturas will arrive with different equipment levels, similar to the placement of XUV500’s W11 (O) variant with an option to choose each feature independently or get them all in the top model. Expecting a starting price of around INR 24 lakh will not be wrong at all.
Mahindra is India’s most loved UV manufacturer and with buyers getting more and more interested in cars with tough looks and practical placement, they are expected to expand in all possible segments. The premium range of products now starts from Marazzo under INR 10 lakh and XUV500 is the most value for money product of its kind at INR 12,55,529.
