Mahindra XUV900 Full-Size SUV – Here’s What We Know So Far

Mahindra XUV900 Under Development; First Prototypes Ready

Mahindra XUV900 full-size SUV is in the news since the launch of the XUV700 in the Indian markets. As per the latest media reports, the homegrown automaker, Mahindra & Mahindra, has already prepared the basic design prototypes for their forthcoming SUV coupe.

Interestingly, Mahindra has already shown off a prototype of this sort quite some time ago. During the 2016 Auto Expo, Mahindra displayed the XUV Aero concept. It was a stunning coupe-style SUV concept that never entered the production line. However, rumours about a new Mahindra SUV coupe emerged online earlier this year, and it now looks that initial prototype versions are ready.

When it comes to the design, the upcoming car is likely to share some elements with the XUV700, and the rear is expected to be inspired by the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. The GLE Coupe sports a sloping roofline that allows for a big greenhouse with wraparound LED taillights, as well as a lip spoiler on its stubby boot.

It would be fascinating to see Mahindra’s take on the SUV coupe interior design since the XUV900 is likely to be uniquely positioned and carve out its own niche when it arrives. The XUV700 and XUV900 will most likely share the same platform, albeit they will have individual characteristics.

The Mahindra XUV900 will be positioned above the XUV700 in the company’s range, so anticipate it to have a considerably more luxurious cabin, complete with modern amenities and more. The future SUV coupe might be equipped with a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine or a 2.2-litre diesel mHawk engine, both of which will be featured in the Mahindra XUV700.

In actuality, the two Mahindra vehicles will be equipped with identical gearbox options: a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic. However, the launch details are not available yet, but the XUV900 may be introduced at the end of 2022 or in early 2023 as the company has previously announced that they are getting ready for the introduction of new vehicles in the Indian market.
