At an Annual General Meeting, Mahindra & Mahindra officially showcased their new flagship SUV, the Y400, popularly known as the XUV700. This premium SUV is now confirmed to be launched later this year after Diwali. The company also let people know that they are planning to launch two new cars as well before Diwali this year. The first one will be the Mahindra Marazzo MPV born to rival the Innova Crysta, and the second car will be the compact SUV that will rival the Creta.
The Y400 will be based on the G4 SsangYong Rexton, being the rebadged version of the full-sized SUV. The 7-seater will be called the Mahindra Rexton or the Mahindra XUV700. The SUV was showcased at the AGM as a production-ready model. There is a new chrome slat on the front grille, a new headlamp design, and LED Daytime Running Lights. The bumpers are the same as the Rexton as is the design of the tail lamps. The alloy wheels are new and quite sporty.
On the inside, the Y400 will sport a spacious and comfortable cabin, with a capacity to seat 7 people at once. The interiors are quite premium with soft-touch plastics and upholstery. The interiors are covered in a premium cognac brown leather. There is a long list of features, which include an electric sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ABS, EBD, electric parking brake, 9 airbags, rear windscreen defogger, hill descent control, speed sensitive steering wheel, active rollover protection, and immobilizer among other things.
The SUV will be powered by a 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine that currently powers the G4 Rexton. It produces a maximum power of 187 hp at 4,000 rpm, and a peak torque of 420 Nm between a range of 1,600-2,600 rpm. The engine is coupled to a 7-speed automatic transmission and will rival the Toyota Fortuner, and the Ford Endeavour in the Indian markets. The price is expected to start from INR 20 lakh and the expected price for the top model is around INR 25 lakh.
