Mahindra TUV300 won many hearts with its muscular looks and SUV character. It supported a lot of modifications and people simply preferred it due to its commanding stance. Recently, AutoCar India posted some spyshots of a long wheelbase version of TUV300, hinting that the Indian SUV maker is working on a bigger TUV500 for the coming year. The extended area shows the possibility of a practical, front facing third row while it has been completely wrapped under a camouflage.
Upcoming Mahindra TUV500 Spied Testing in India
Mahindra TUV300 even offers two jump seats but they are more comfortable for kids only. The sub 4 meter car do not that much space while the extended version can clearly be a nice way out for Mahindra. Not just that, the sales of Mahindra Xylo have been going down day by day, pushing them to adopt the new design language for a car that can potentially be placed around the price tag of Mahindra Scorpio but may get listed in the people carrier segment.
The engine on the TUV500 is most probably the 2.2 liter, mHawk engine producing 120 BHP and 280 Nm of torque. The TUV300 is a front wheel drive car while the bigger version may support rear wheel drive platform. It will definitely share parts with all other cars in the Mahindra lineup, keeping their costs under check for the development of this new platform. The production ready model will arrive around the second half of the year 2017 while there are chances of spotting it without camouflage in the coming days.
