The updated 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno recently made its official debut in India back on February 23 this year. The hatchback is available at a starting price of Rs 6.35 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 9.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec variant. Loaded with a plethora of cosmetic as well as functional updates, the 2022 Baleno will give hard competition to the VW Polo, Honda Jazz, Tata Altroz, and Hyundai i20.
The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno features a revised front bumper as well as a broader and sleeker grille. The grille has been adorned with chrome, which continues to the angular LED projector headlights with LED DRLs. The shoulder line has been updated and appears more sophisticated than before. The chrome door handles and wing mirrors with embedded turn indicators remain unaltered.
Turning inside, the cabin design has also been updated, with the most notable change being the redesigned dashboard, which now features a larger and more sophisticated 9-inch Smartplay Pro freestanding touchscreen system. It receives a completely new UI with considerably clearer and crisper visuals. In addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno is the first car from the brand that sports 40+ connected car features.
Maruti has offered the facelifted Baleno with a new head-up display, 360-view camera, next-generation Suzuki Connect and a new ARKAMYS powered sound system, as well as 19 prominent safety features, including six airbags, ESP, Hill Hold Assist, ABS with EBD and more. To offer it an elegant look, the brand has introduced a new colour scheme including Luxe Beige, Nexa Blue, Grandeur Grey, Pearl Arctic White, Opulent Red and Splendid Silver colours.
Under the hood, the new Baleno sports a 1.2-litre K series dual-jet dual VVT petrol engine with idle start/stop functionality. This engine is capable of generating 90 HP and 113 Nm when mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT (AGS). Also, the brand reveals that the 2022 Baleno is claimed to have a fuel efficiency of 22.35 kmpl for the manual gearbox and 22.94 kmpl for the AGS.
