Maruti Suzuki’s new flagship midsize SUV, the Grand Vitara, made its official debut last week. It will be sold through the company’s exclusive NEXA dealerships, and pre-orders have begun with an INR 11,000 down payment. The company has received bookings for 15,000 units in just two weeks of opening order books. The demand for strong hybrid variants is higher, with 54 per cent or more than 7,000 bookings for these variants over their mild hybrid counterparts.
Maruti, like Toyota, is implementing a similar marketing campaign. A few days after its debut, HyRyder began to arrive at authorised Toyota dealerships, allowing buyers to get a closer look at the upcoming SUV. Maruti is also employing a similar strategy. The first Maruti Grand Vitara SUVs have begun to arrive at NEXA dealerships across India. One such Maruti Grand Vitara can be seen in Motor Express’s detailed walkaround video, which was shot at the NEXA showroom.
The new Maruti Grand Vitara features some exciting exterior and interior features based on the ‘Crafted Futurism’ design language. The Progressive hybrid has a front grille finished in High Gloss Black and Rich Chrome, while the Intelligent electric hybrid has a ‘Fervent Dark Chrome’ finish. It also has three-element LED DRLs with integrated turn indicators. The exterior features a faux skid plate, distinctive body cladding, massive wheel arches, and new 17-inch precision-cut alloy wheels (a first for a Maruti car in India). The panoramic sunroof will be another first for a Maruti Suzuki vehicle.
The Vitara features a 9-inch Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system with wireless charging, overheating protection, and a coloured head-up display unit with speed, fuel economy, a tachometer, and turn-by-turn navigation. It also has a 360-degree camera, a Piano Black finished dashboard with a 3D setup, and 40 connected features, as well as Alexa Skill and smartwatch connectivity. Depending on the variant, safety features include 6 airbags, rear disc brakes, an electronic stability programme, hill hold assist, and TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System).
