Maruti S-Presso Micro SUV India Launch Date Revealed

According to a recent report by ACI, the upcoming Maruti S-Presso, the brand’s production version of the Future S-Concept is all set to be launched in India on September 30, 2019. The concept was initially unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018. The SUV-inspired Maruti S-Presso is slightly larger in size when compared to the current-gen Maruti Alto and moreover, the car will definitely be safer due to the upcoming safety norms that will standardize the basic safety features on all cars in India.

Specifically designed to compete with the budget-end of the market, the S-Presso Micro SUV is a direct rival to Renault Kwid and other SUV-inspired hatchbacks of India. The compact size will keep the costs under check while high bonnet and masculine stance will attract more first-time car buyers than ever.

Maruti Suzuki is facing downfall from a long time as the last few months were a clear departure from their policy of adding more buyers to the family. The fall in sales number is also visible in most other brands, with some posting positive numbers to show that their products are more capable in tough times.

Maruti S-Presso nameplate will also relate to the popular S-Cross and thus, buyers can expect properties like improved interiors, better ground clearance, and premium appeal from the upcoming Micro SUV. The concept was seen with huge tires but in reality, the car seems to feature just 14-inch wheels with decent tires to keep the costs under check.

On the engine front, the highest-possible chances are for the three-cylinder, 1.0L petrol engine with BS6-compliant emissions. Moreover, the gap of INR 20,000 (as seen in the WagonR) may feature the bigger 4-cylinder 1.2L petrol motor for more power and comparable efficiency.

The launch of the Maruti S-Presso Micro SUV right before the festive season will help the brand in bringing not just impressive sales but also taking into account the effect of this step on other entry-level cars. The price range is expected to start from around INR 4 lakh while the SUV-inspired hatchback will co-exist with the currently available Alto K10.
