According to recent reports, Maruti Suzuki has silently launched the new Ertiga-based Tour M diesel that belongs to the taxi segment. The Tour M has been introduced in the Indian market at a price tag of INR 9.82 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Tour range of vehicles from Maruti Suzuki has been specifically developed for the fleet operators and one of the most popular vehicles out of them is the Ertiga Tour M.
A petrol variant of the Ertiga-based Tour M was introduced earlier this year and after that, a CNG variant was brought to the market and now finally, the company has launched the diesel variant. The new model of the Ertiga Tour M is based on the VDi Trim and generates its power from a BS4 DDIS 225 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 95HP and a peak torque of 225 Nm. The powerful engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission while the MPV claims a fuel efficiency of 24.20 km/l.
To ensure a safe drive with the Ertiga Tour M, the brand has equipped it with safety equipment like dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist (BA), speed warning, and reverse parking sensors as standard. The fleet vehicle is being offered in three colour options which include white, black, and silver.
On the exterior, the Maruti Tour M diesel version is equipped with projector headlamps, 3D tail lamps with LED highlights, body-coloured door handles and ORVMs. It should be noted that the BS4 powertrain will be phased out before the April 2020 BS6 deadline. As the Tour M is a fleet variant hence, it comes with a speed limiter that caps the top speed at 80kph.
The second generation of the Ertiga that was launched towards the end of the last year has managed to impress the Indian customers. In spite of the ongoing auto slump, the MPV has managed to bring average sales numbers each month and is currently the best-selling utility vehicle in the Indian market.
