In India, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV has been released. Bookings began in July at Rs 11,000, and the company claims to have received over 50,000 bookings before prices were announced. Deliveries are set to begin in the coming days as part of the Navratri celebrations.
The Grand Vitara, which rides on Suzuki’s Global C platform, has a more aggressive stance than the Hyryder. It gets a sharper nose, a wider grille with chrome strips, a slew of chrome accents throughout the body, and unique 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
The exterior colour options for the Grand Vitara include six monotone and three dual-tone options. Arctic White, Splendid Silver, Nexa Blue, Grandeur Grey, Opulent Red, Chestnut Brown, Arctic White with Black, Splendid Silver with Black, and Opulent Red with Black.
It comes with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, and power windows. It also has a head-up display, a panoramic sunroof, a digital instrument cluster, SmartPlay Pro+ connectivity, and ventilated front seats. Six airbags, ESP, Hill Hold Assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and disc brakes on all four wheels ensure safety.
A 1.5-litre 4-cylinder K15C smart hybrid petrol engine that produces 103 horsepower and 136 Newton-meters of torque powers the Grand Vitara. It is mated to a 5-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission with the option of Suzuki’s AllGrip AWD system.
Toyota supplied another 1.5-litre 3-cylinder Atkinson Cycle TNGA petrol engine. This engine produces 92 hp at 5,500 rpm and 122 Nm torque at 4,400 rpm. When coupled with an AC synchronous motor it results in a combined power output of 115 hp. It is only available with a 6-speed CVT and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 27.97 km/l.
The new Maruti Grand Vitara starts at an introductory price of Rs 10.45 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.65 lakh. Maruti also offers the Grand Vitara on a lease, with monthly subscription fees starting at Rs 27,000. With Grand Vitara, Suzuki’s flagship SUV will enter a segment with the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, and VW Taigun.
