Maruti Swift dethroned the Alto from India’s top selling car in April 2017, shocking everyone by claiming 23,802 units and winning by 1253 units from the Alto series. The baby hatchback scored 22,549 units and came second on the same chart.
Even after the launch of Dzire with a new design, the old generation Swift remains a favorite among car buyers in India. The car will get an update later this year and would carry the same design language as the Maruti Dzire.
Maruti Swift Beats Alto in April 2017 | Swift is Now the Best-Selling Car in India
Maruti Baleno made a recent entry into top 3 cars of India, selling 17,530 units in the month of April 2017. Baleno’s production has now been shifted to Gujarat and that definitely helps in maintaining the least possible waiting period on the company side.
The change of Maruti Dzire’s production line (which now gets a lightweight frame) would have also helped Maruti clear the pending Swift orders and increase its production in order to match the speed of sales in the Indian market.
Not just that, the fourth position was also bagged by Maruti WagonR, selling 16,348 units in the same month. The majority of Maruti’s sale comes from these 4 models while other like Ciaz and Vitara Brezza add up to claim the first 1 lakh cars out of the total number.
Maruti Dzire sold just 8606 units as it was witnessing a shift to the next generation model. The new car gathered around 44,000 bookings since it was officially unveiled in India, hinting at a grand number once deliveries start.
