NATS Concept 5-Door Maruti Suzuki Jimny Debut This Month

Maruti Suzuki’s new SUV, the Jimny 5-Door, is all set to be launched in India in the coming years and it would be competing with the likes of the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. The SUV that has been awaited for a long time in India is finally set to launch in the next few years. Not long ago, the 3-door version of Maruti Suzuki’s compact SUV was displayed at the Auto Expo 2020 and now it is official that the 5-door version is coming to India.

In one of the recent updates, the students at Japan’s Nihon Automotive Technology School (NATS) are working on this SUV model and trying to reconstruct it. This is a not-for-India project and once the project is finished, it will be displayed at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2022.

The upcoming Jimny 5-Door SUV will have a powerful engine that is used in the company’s best-selling compact SUV, the Maruti Brezza. The 1.5L K15B petrol engine is equipped with 12V SHVS mild-hybrid technology. This engine is capable of generating 102 bhp of power and 138 Nm of max torque. The upcoming Maruti Jimny will be introduced with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

As for the potential look, design, and features of the upcoming 5-door Jimny, it will be bigger than the 3-door Jimny. It will feature several new standard and safety features, including LED DRLs and LED taillamps, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay support, a height-adjustable driver seat, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, hill hold assist, cruise control, and multiple airbags.

The Maruti Jimny 5-door model is expected to launch in India with an ex-showroom price tag of around Rs 10 lakhs. In addition Jimny, the company is also planning to launch the next-generation models and CNG variants of many of its popular cars in the coming days.
