Maruti XL6-Based Suzuki XL7 India Launch Possible

The Suzuki XL7 has been recently launched in Indonesia at a starting price tag of IDR 230,000,000 (INR 12.20 lakhs approx) while the prices go all the way up to IDR 267,000,000 (INR 14.15 lakhs approx) for the top-end variant. The MPV is based on the India-specific Maruti XL6 while getting a dual-tone colour scheme in the Indonesian market.

The recent reports also suggest that Maruti might launch the Suzuki XL7 in the Indian market in the coming months though there has been no official confirmation received on the same.

Comparing the XL7 with its smaller sibling XL6, the former has been equipped with a black roof spoiler in addition to getting black door visors, side mirrors as well as 16-inch alloy wheel setup. In addition to this, the brand has equipped with XL7 with an upper spoiler at the rear that differentiates it from the XL6.

Apart from the cosmetic changes, the biggest difference between both the two MPVs is the cabin design. The Suzuki XL7 has been equipped with a comfortable bench in the second row that is capable of adjusting three passengers in contrast to the two captain seats offered to the XL6.

The XL7 will be further available to the customers in three trims namely: Beta, Zeta and Alpha. The Zeta variant of the MPV features an LED headlight setup at the font mated to LED DRLs while gets a 16-inch alloy wheels setup. The MPV variant has been equipped with fog lamps at the front while the taillights have also been offered an LED treatment.

Inside the cabin, the MPV features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system in addition to getting a second-row armrest for additional comfort. The Beta trim has been equipped with additional functionalities like passive keyless entry, LED light guide, an engine start/stop button, an armrest in the first row, adjustable ORVMs and more. The Alpha trim on the XL7 further includes the door sill guard, rear upper spoiler, door visors, e-mirror and more.

Powering the Suzuki XL7 is the K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine that is capable of offering maximum power of 105HP @ 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 138 Nm @ 4,400 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while the customers can also avail the 4-speed automatic transmission as an option. Since the XL7 features only a sportier design language as well as a different second-row setup when compared to the XL6, the probability of the launch of the 7-seater XL7 is quite high in the Indian market.
