Mercedes recently launched the AMG GT-R and GT Roadster in India for INR 2.23 Crore and INR 2.19 Crore respectively. The GT-R here is a track champion while GT Roadster simply excites senses through its roof-less appeal. They were available internationally from a long time.
Mercedes AMG GT-R is powered by a highly tuned 4.0L V8 twin turbo engine producing 585 HP and 700 Nm of torque. This makes it good for 3.6 second 0-100 kmph sprint and top speed of 318 kmph. The engine comes mated to AMG 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
AMG GT-R comes with loads of technology, starting with its automatically bending carbon fiber under-body (40 mm lower above 80 kmph), 20-inch wheels, rear wheel steering and then even 15 kg of lower body weight than GT-S. AMG Roadster stays light on the engine section, carrying the same motor but getting 476 HP and 630 Nm of torque as output. This makes the car good for 0-100 kmph in 4 seconds and 302 kmph of claimed top speed. The roof takes just 11 seconds to fold and supports the same function for up to 50 kmph of speed.
This make Mercedes the only brand to offer such high range of options when considering a car of this segment. Either one can go for a full fledged track racer or choose a convertible to enjoy easy winds on the highway. AMG GT-R strictly rivals Porsche 911 GT3 and Jaguar F-Type in its segment while GT Roadster can be placed equally with no roof variants of the same car.
High number of dealerships, best in class service and earned respectable AMG moniker makes Mercedes one of the most preferred brand in luxury car segment. The exclusive interior finish of both the cars will make buyers go crazy for them.
