Arriving via the CBU route, the 2016 Mini Cooper S Convertible has launched in India at a price tag of 34.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The third generation of the car with a hard top was launched nearly an year ago while the open top version comes this year in the S trim. The engine powering the same is a 2.0 L petrol engine producing 192 HP and 280 NM of torque. The best part is that maximum torque starts at just 1250 rpm.
The gearbox to the car is a 6-speed automatic unit, delivering a 0-100 kmph sprint time of just 7.1 seconds. The top speed is rated at 228 kmph. Mini claims a fuel efficiency of 14.59 kmpl while it is the most affordable open top car in India. The car is available in 2 standard and 11 optional colors. The 215 liter boot space of the car is nearly 25 percent more than the second generation convertible.
The car runs on run flat tyres and Mini provides an option of a wide variety of accessories for the car. The 16 inch wheel can be swapped for 17 inch while it may cost above INR 1 lakh for the change. The car uses cornering brake control, dynamic stability control and many other such features for a safe ride every time. The car can be customized to a great extent as it can be fitted with upholstery and interior/exterior equipment of a person’s choice.
