Ola Electric has announced that its first electric car, with a claimed range of more than 500 km on a single charge and a drag coefficient of 0.21Cd, will be available in 2024. This upcoming EV may also be powered by Ola Electric’s in-house Li-ion battery.
Between 2024 and 2026, the company plans to produce six different cars based on two platforms at the Ola Future Factory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, which has a capacity of one million electric vehicles.
In a press conference on Monday, Founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal stated that the proposed electric car would be different from the “dull and boring” cars currently on the market. “We deserve a car that defines the new India. An India that is fearless and believes in writing its own destiny. Our car is going to be one of the fastest cars in the country.” He further added, “It will be the sportiest, keyless, handleless and with an all-glass roof.”
The upcoming EV is shown with an LED light bar in the front with an illuminated Ola logo, as well as a large vent on both front bumper corners. It will have a coupe-style roofline and an all-glass roof. The Ola EV has a light bar as a taillight and an illuminated Ola logo on the back. The teaser doesn’t reveal much about the EV’s side design.
According to Ola, its upcoming EV will have a range of more than 500 kilometres on a single charge. The electric vehicle is also said to have a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of fewer than 4 seconds. When it is released in the summer of 2024, it will be the sportiest car ever built in India.
The EV will also include keyless and handleless doors, assisted driving capabilities, Ola’s in-house MoveOS software and other advanced features. Ola is currently developing its own iteration of a Li-ion battery in India, and this battery could be used in Ola’s upcoming EV.
