2019 Renault Kwid Outsider was seen at the 2018 Sao Paulo Motor Show, listing itself as the new top-spec model for the Brazilian market. The basic design and underpinnings are exactly similar to the version that is on sale currently while accessorized Outsider variant is more in-line with India-spec Kwid Climber. The compact hatchback is expected to get a design upgrade in 2020, safety making Outsider the last special edition variant for the current-gen Kwid. However, getting more variant for 2019 is a possibility of higher grade. Kwid Outsider will go on sale in Brazil in 2019 and may get introduced in India with the same name.
The car comes with rubber side strips wit Outsider badging, silver bumper inserts, huge wheel arch cladding, and roof rails. The alloy wheels are available on the Outsider variant, same as the equipment list seen on Indian Kwid Climber. However, the design is more impressive here with a machine-cut finish for exterior improvement. The mirrors are Black finished for a sporty touch. The top-spec variant of Kwid in Brazil costs over INR 8 lakh while the Indian market has the top-spec model placed under INR 4.5 lakh for the manual variant (ex-showroom).
The magic of Kwid went down with the introduction of Tata Tiago hatchback in the segment, with buyers getting more space, bigger engine and impressive design for an almost similar price tag. The Kwid comes with two different engines in India, getting no airbag as standard and just driver airbag in the top-spec model. The 799cc engine is good for 54 PS of maximum power while the bigger 1.0L engine is good for 68 PS. The Climber variant is priced at INR 4.33 lakh for the manual and INR 4.63 lakh for the AMT gearbox. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom Delhi.
