After the first appearance of Megane RS Trophy in 2005, it seems like the brand now understands the need of performance lovers well. Renault has introduced the 2019 Megane RS Trophy, leaving eyes wide open for most enthusiasts who thought only supercars crave performance.
Renault takes care of both types of gear shifters around the world. Confused? We are talking about stick shifters and paddle shifters here. You can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox for the former love while those belonging to the latter can get the 6-speed EDC (dual-clutch automatic) with paddle shift. Those 19-inch Jerez wheels are mesmerizing.
Renault Megane RS Trophy comes with a 1.8-liter, turbocharged petrol motor producing 300HP of maximum power. The manual version claims 400NM whereas EDC brings 20NM of additional torque. The most advanced RS variant comes with four-wheel steering, F1-inspired front spoiler, and sport-specific exhaust system for added performance over the standard version.
The sports cup chassis under the body facilitates the use of better shock absorbers, a limited slip differential, 355mm front disc brakes from Brembo and Bridgestone Potenza tires. The interior now features new seats that are 20mm lower, allowing more powerful height adjustment system than the earlier variant.
Buyers of Megane RS Trophy can also opt for Recaro seats with Alcantara upholstery. The exterior shades on this track version remain the same as standard Megane RS. The Fuji lightweight wheels are also available as an option, reducing the overall car weight by 8kg and facilitating better control while cornering hard.
The use of four-wheel steering system allows the driver to enjoy both high-speed stability and slow speed expressive handling. More than that, the new exhaust system can be switched between the two given modes where a driver gets the option to block the throbbing noises during everyday rides and get full engine feel and noise on a track or a highway.
