Self-Driving Tata Hexa Testing Begins in UK: Public trails for self-driving cars may not be a new thing for American market but in England, the largest ever autonomous car motorcade was seen around Coventry for the first time.

The cars were tested under real life scenarios and proved their worth through sensible driving sense on those roads. UK Autodrive project had some familiar faces as Tata Hexa was included in this testing project. Yes, the same Hexa that people drive here in India was fitted with autonomous technology to prove its worth in England.

The group of cars had one Range Rover Sport, a Jaguar F-Pace and Ford Mondeo apart from Tata Hexa. The trails were done in order to see how well these connected cars perform on the road conditions. In other words, these cars were actually talking to each other about terms likes obstacles, road conditions, traffic update and much more.

Tata Motors European Technical Center is a subsidiary of Indian Tata Motors and currently focuses on development of autonomous technology through their Hexa and JLR products. For safety reasons, a driver always available behind the wheel. They will have open road demonstrations in second half of 2018.

The complex system used in these cars was good enough to recognize traffic lights, turn roundabouts and share GPS based information with each other. This same technical center was also responsible for the development of electric Tiago and Bolt while autonomous Tiago was even once demonstrated.

Range Rover Sport used here comes with level 4 autonomy. America’s Tesla Motors is one of the most advanced brands in terms of autonomous driving cars around the world. Their cars can sense traffic from all directions and drive accordingly. The pledge to make driving safer once created a big problem when one of their car rear ended a big trailer due to technical limitations.
