Tata Tiago NRG Urban Toughroader Launched @ INR 5.50 Lakh

Tata has launched the crossover variant of the Tiago, calling it the Tiago NRG, as expected. The crossover looks more adventurous than the standard versions, and the sporty accents come with a bolder exterior and extensive treatment with black additions. The dimensions of the standard Tiago have increased in all directions, giving the Tiago NRG a beefier look. The crossover measures 3793 mm in length, 1,665 mm in width and 1,587 mm in height. The car is higher than its standard counterpart, with the ground clearance of the NRG measuring 180 mm.

There are new side skirts and black trims all around the wheel arches, giving the crossover quite a sporty look. To exemplify the height of the crossover certain parts like the front grille, the roof, the ORVMs, and the B-pillar have been blacked out. The black theme continues on with the integration of the black roof rails and the black rear spoiler. Flowing down the back, one can see a thick black belt at the tailgate.

The sportiness of the Tiago NRG is amplified by the presence of the 14-inch 4-spoke alloy wheels and smoked headlamps at the front. On the inside, one can see orange and silver accents in the interior. Sitting behind the three-spoke multi-functional wheel, you will notice twin pod clusters on the instrument panel with silver boundaries and a MID in the center. The driver’s seat is 6-way adjustable, and the front seats come with their headrests fixed into them. In the dashboard, the standout features include a cooled glove-box and a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation.

Under the hood of the Tiago NRG, the engine options remain the same as the standard Tiago. The petrol variant comes with the 1.2-liter engine that produces a maximum power of 84 hp while the diesel variant comes with the 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine producing a maximum power of 69 hp. The transmission options are limited to the five-speed manual gearbox.

There are three colour options available on the Tiago NRG, Malabar Silver, Fuji White, and Canyon Orange, and the crossover has been launched at an introductory price starting from INR 5.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the petrol variant and INR 6.32 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the diesel variant. The Tiago NRG will compete with the Ford Freestyle, even though the crossover from Tata is a size smaller than the one offered by Ford. This also helps Tata to offer the Tiago NRG at a price which is quite lower than the Ford Freestyle.
