Top 10 Best-Selling Sedans in India: Sedans of India are primarily divided into compact and above 4m segment. Under 4m sedans are taxed at 29% for petrol and 31% for diesel engine in use whereas those measuring more than four meter are placed in 53% tax bracket. That makes compact sedans much more affordable.
Also, main difference in length for a compact and top selling 4m+ sedan is 400mm, leaving around 150 mm of added wheelbase and rest goes to the boot space. If your family height is under 5’8”, compact can save you a lot of money. Here are top 10 selling sedans in India for March 2018.

Numbers may be huge for Maruti Dzire (22,195 units) but 4m+ sedans scored next three positions with City getting 4,680 buyers in March 2018. Ciaz followed close with 4,321 units while Verna was equally competitive at 4,151 units. It’s either a Maruti Dzire or any one of these three for buyers.
Hyundai Xcent sold 3,200 units and thus, challenged Dzire in its own game. Ford Aspire and Tata Tigor were two next players with 2,145 and 2,076 units respectively. Etios from Toyota scored 1,966 units while compact sedan Tata Zest was good for 1,604 units. Skoda Rapid came tenth with 913 units.
The trend clearly highlights bulk in number for compact sedans while those with higher tax even captured five slots out of all in this list. Government should consider raising the length bar for manufacturing as more safer cars will be sold when lower tax rates are implemented on bigger cars.
