Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo 2 was recently revealed for the Thailand market, bringing more features and upgrades than the popular TRD Sportivo variant. The changes are mostly cosmetic, starting with none other than the front bumper. The blacked-out parts are now available in brushed aluminum and body colored finish on the car. The new bumper comes with red highlights and wider than ever central section. The fog lamp section looks smarter than before, with the Fortuner TRD Sportivo 2 getting a splitter on the front bumper. The rear end features faux diffuser and repositioned fog lights for the sporty SUV feel.
TRD Sportivo 2 comes with a black roof, contrast outside mirrors and dual-tone 20-inch alloy wheels. In Thailand, the car comes with the powerful 2.8L, four-cylinder diesel engine with an option between 2WD and 4WD. The TRD Sportivo 2 comes with slight suspension tweaks for an even plusher ride. Most probably, Toyota will offer the same in India in the coming months, with Fortuner fetching an almost equal number of units each month in comparison to a regular slow-selling hatchback. The car comes with both petrol and diesel engine in the Indian market. As TRD Sportivo variant was available for the last generation model, it won’t take much effort for the brand to introduce the same here.
Toyota Fortuner went under the knife for a complete generation change, flaunting curvy design lines on the new model. However, Ford Endeavour, the arch-rival of Fortuner in most markets, got itself on the right track with proportionate SUV design lines and butch looking fascia. Fortuner, on the other hand, now comes with sharper headlights and Lexus inspired design lines on the exterior. The car is derived from Land Cruiser Prado and similarities in design and other factors is quite natural. The top-spec Fortuner comes with a price tag of INR 32.97 lakh (ex-showroom).
