Toyota Raize, the upcoming SUV from the brand is all set to make its global debut in the coming days. Ahead of the official unveiling, the official exterior images of the compact SUV have leaked online, which gives the audience a clear insight into what to expect from the Daihatsu Rocky-based SUV. The latter has been recently unveiled at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show while acts as a design inspiration for the Toyota Raize.
Taking styling tips from its Japanese sibling, the SUV has been equipped with a large trapezoidal grille upfront with mesh inserts. The SUV features angular fog lamps set up at the front while gets LED DRLs mated to a Toyota logo mapped in the centre. The LED headlamps design has been inspired by the Daihatsu Rocky SUV while only the highest-spec variants are expected to get the same. In addition to this, both the SUVs are based on Toyota’s flexible DNGA platform.
The 17-inch alloy wheels equipped on the Toyota Raize have been offered different detailing when compared to the Daihatsu Rocky while the customers can avail various other accessories, body kits as well as alloy wheels with the upcoming Raize SUV.
Coming to the rear design, the SUV has been equipped with wraparound tail-lamps with LED inserts placed in a horizontal manner similar to the ones seen on the Daihatsu Rocky. Apart from these, the SUV also features a floating D-pillar and body cladding at the lower edges.
In terms of interiors, the Toyota Raize features the same dashboard design as that of the Rocky with driver-centric cockpit and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. In addition to this, the higher-spec variant of the SUV will also feature three-spoke steering wheel inspired from the Rocky SUV.
The Daihatsu Rocky measures 3,995mm in length, 1,695mm in height, 1,620mm in width while one can expect the same specifications for the upcoming SUV from Toyota.
Powering the Raize is a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, 12-valve turbo-petrol engine that is capable of generating a maximum power figure of 98HP at 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 140.2Nm at 2,400-4,000rpm. The engine will be mated to a CVT gearbox while one can expect the brand to offer a 6-speed manual transmission later. Considering the lack of compact SUVs from the brand in the Indian market, the Toyota Raize is highly likely to be launched in India in the coming months.
