Toyota Urban Cruiser India Launch in August 2020

According to recent reports, the Toyota Urban Cruiser which is a rebadged Maruti Vitara Brezza will be launched in India sometime in the late July or August 2020. The brand is expected to unveil the SUV in the Indian markets after the nationwide lockdown to curb the coronavirus pandemic is lifted.

Coming to the rebadged version of the Vitara Brezza, the Urban Cruiser is not going to feature every similar trait of the compact Maruti SUV. Toyota has decided to follow a different path with their rebadged SUV when compared to the Toyota Glanza which is a rebadged Maruti Baleno and features only Toyota badging for differentiation.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser is expected to be somehow tweaked by the brand upfront. The inexpensive soft parts like the plastic used are expected to be revised while the rear is also expected to be changed a bit in terms of the material used for the taillights. The brand is further expected to retain the other expensive bits like metal sheets and alloy wheels just as the ones used on the Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Urban Cruiser is Expected to Get Some Styling Cues from the New Toyota Raize

Coming to the interiors, the Vitara Brezza has been imparted a dull grey colour scheme while Toyota is expected to offer the Urban Cruiser a splash of colour to offer it a fresher appeal as well as impart an upmarket look. The Urban Cruiser will be the first-ever SUV from the brand that will feature a mild hybrid system mated to a manual gearbox. The manual version of the SUV is also expected to offer better fuel efficiency than the one offered by the non-hybrid manual variant of the Vitara Brezza.

Apart from this, both the manual and automatic versions of the Toyota Urban Cruiser will be mated to mild hybrid technologies though the brand is not expected to offer them an ISG external badging. Once launched in India, the Urban Cruiser will be priced in the same vicinity of INR 7 – INR 11 lakh just like the Vitara Brezza though the brand is expected to sweeten up the deal further with impressive warranty schemes for the high-end variants.
