Vazirani Shul, India’s first turbine-electric hypercar, has been unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Chunky Vazirani, the chief designer for this project, shared how he made this car by different in comparison to the regular electric supercar design.
He had worked for Roll Royce and Jaguar Land Rover before coming up with this venture. The present setup uses a jet turbine and electric power-train, bringing high torque performance and impressive range for a car of its class. Vazirani Automotive, the parent brand, is also working on a regular petrol version of a turbine engine, helping future owners use the everyday fuel for added practicality.
The battery weighs 300kg and features regenerative technology, helping the same store some real time charge from the vehicle. The use of carbon fiber tub chassis, along with outer parts made out of the same, helps Shul in keeping overall weight under check.
Braking power comes from Brembo sourced components while Force India Formula 1 team plans to test the prototype on track this year. No details regarding the total output were shared by Vazirani Automotive as they claim to stay away from 0-100 kph numbers and focus on handling. The production-spec car is expected to reach the market by 2019.
