Volkswagen has officially launched a new premium SUV in India. Christened as T-Roc, this all-new SUV has been priced at INR 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The car was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 in February and it will be imported to the Indian market as a CBU unit.
Mechanically available in a single-engine option, the T-Roc SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol TSI engine that produces 150HP of maximum power along with 250Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox as standard. Talking about the performance, the SUV reaches from 0-100kmph in 8.4 seconds and it has a top speed of 205kmph.
Going by the design, the T-Roc looks unique although featuring the signature VW styling all around. It gets large wheel arches, sloping rear windscreen, and rectangular LED elements that reside below the headlamps. The cabin of the car continues to remind you of other Volkswagen models with its fairly conventional dashboard design but it uses coloured inserts to enhance the overall looks.
In terms of safety, the SUV comes loaded with six airbags, ABS with EBD, a parking camera and a tyre pressure monitoring system. As the T-Roc is available in a single trim, it comes in a pack with a fair list of equipment that include an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, full-LED headlamps, and taillamps, dual-tone alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, a digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and Vienna leather seats.
The VW T-Roc SUV will rival with the likes of Kia Seltos, 2020 Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Nissan Kicks, Renault Captur, and Tata Harrier. The bookings for the car were opened earlier in February this year while the company claims that they have received 300+ bookings for the SUV so far. The T-Roc is available in six colours – Curcuma Yellow, Energetic Orange, Indium Grey, Ravenna Blue and Pure White, and Deep Black Pearl.
