Volkswagen has officially launched the Tiguan facelift in India recently. The car has been launched in only one variant named “Elegance” and is priced at Rs 31.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This five-seater SUV is part of the brand’s 2.0 strategy in the country. The Tiguan is one of the four SUVs that Volkswagen has announced will be brought to our shores. Bookings for the new model of the Tiguan commenced on December 7, 2021, and buyers can book the car through the company’s official website.
Furthermore, when it comes to deliveries, the brand has stated that the Tiguan will be available to customers beginning in mid-January 2022. This facelift model is produced at the company’s Aurangabad plant in Maharashtra and will be available as a petrol-powered variant only. This new-gen SUV has been built on Volkswagen’s MQB platform and offers some considerable changes that will attract customers who want to buy premium SUVs.
In terms of design and styling, the Tiguan looks mind-blowing with its crucial exterior design changes. It now has a revised front grille with chrome accents, a new bumper with trilateral fog lamps for a unique appearance, LED Matrix headlights with LED DRLs, and a sleeker LED taillight with the Tiguan inscription displaced at the tailgate’s centre. Along with the exterior, the interior also gets some crucial updates.
The Tiguan features a 20.32cm touchscreen infotainment system with a digital virtual cockpit driver display. This infotainment system is offered with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as gesture control. Other notable features include 30-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, USB Type-C ports, illuminated scuff plates, Vienna leather seats, a flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel and more.
When it comes to safety, the new Tiguan sports six airbags, cruise control, ABS, ESP, hill descent control, a rearview camera, and a Driver Alert System. Powering the SUV is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine, which is coupled with a 7-speed DSG 4MOTION transmission and is capable of generating 190 hp and 320 Nm. The brand’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system will be offered as standard.
