Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed its E-Class Cabriolet before the start of 2017 Geneva International Motor Show. The convertible shows the actual meaning of luxury in its 4-seat guise to the viewers worldwide. The fabric soft roof-top is the only difference that can be spotted on the new car from its coupe cousin. The parking brake cover at the rear is now placed on the cover that holds the folded roof.
2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet Unveiled
The front grill is placed a bit lower and uses the same LED front and rear lights as the coupe version. The soft top takes 20 seconds for fully closing or opening and this can be operated up to 50 kmph. The 12.3 inch infotainment touchscreen remains standard on the E-Class while buyers can go for an optional same size unit for the instrument console. However, the India spec E-Class LWB version is offered with twin pod console.
The boot space capacity for E-Class Cabriolet remains limited to 385 liters, which further goes down to 310 liters when the roof is open. The car offers loads of airbags, roll over protection system and many other safety enhancing features for the Cabriolet version. E-Class Cabriolet will get the same set of engines internationally while Indian version would keep the same engines as the hard top version.
The 3.0 liter V6 diesel on the E-Class is good for 258 HP and 620 Nm of torque. The same engine could make its way in the Cabriolet version. Mercedes will bring the smaller 2.0 liter, newly developed diesel motor into the E-Class at a later stage. Mercedes-Benz recently launched the E-Class LWB Sedan in India with a starting price tag of INR 56.15 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai).
