Various reports on the web suggest that Apple iPhone 9 (iPhone SE 2) will launch later this month on April 15. Recently, a Chinese retailer JD.com has published a placeholder page for the upcoming iPhone which indicates that the official launch of the smartphone is about to happen very soon. Though the page does not showcase any specifications for the upcoming iPhone 9, the rumours suggest that it would be based on the iPhone 8.
The smartphone is listed on the e-commerce website as iPhone 9 which indicates the fact that Apple will most probably go with the same name for its most affordable model. Earlier, the speculations were made that it would be launched as iPhone SE 2. Some recent reports even suggest that the brand could simply launch it as iPhone SE (2020).
Apple has not revealed anything officially regarding the name of the upcoming iPhone till date. Initially, the smartphone was scheduled to launch in March 2020, but the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has pushed the timeline for the launch of the smartphone ahead by a few days.
The shipping of the smartphone is expected to begin from April 22 if the launch happens on the 15th of this month. As we reported earlier, the upcoming smartphone would be the upgraded version of the iPhone 8. It is expected to come featured with a 4.7-inch Retina LCD screen. The iPhone 9 is further reported to run on A13 Bionic chip and it would feature a single rear camera setup.
Some reports also suggest that the brand will also come up with a larger iPhone 9 model and it will be launched as the iPhone 9 Plus. It would have slightly better specs in comparison to its smaller sibling. It is also expected to feature old-school iPhone design along with support for the Touch ID.
