According to recent reports, Samsung is developing a 150MP camera sensor for high-end smartphones. The brand currently not only deals with smartphones and other products but also caters to offer camera sensors, displays and more across the world. The brand has recently developed the 108MP ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor that was initially used in the Samsung Galaxy S20.
The all-new 150MP camera sensor from the brand will be regarded as the third-gen billion pixel sensor which will feature Samsung Nano cell technology that has been recently upgraded to pixel nine-in-one and offers a 16MP pixel-binned image that will offer improved low-light performance.
Some reports also suggest that the 150MP sensor from Samsung will be launched by the brand by the end of the year 2020, the fourth quarter of the fiscal year. The companies like Xiaomi and Oppo are expected to launch the very first product with the billion-pixel camera sensor sometime in the year 2021.
The reports further suggest that the camera sensor will measure 1-inch in size and will be used on the Oppo or Xiaomi’s flagship products in a combination with Snapdragon 875 processor.
Though the reports have not been confirmed by any of the Samsung officials as of yet, one can expect more news on the subject to follow soon. Some other reports also confirm that the brand will cater to a 144MP camera sensor for the upcoming smartphones though there isn’t any information received on the same.
Since the upcoming Snapdragon 875 processor can handle a camera sensor up to 200 megapixels, churning out a 150MP camera sensor won’t require any additional hardware changes to be made to the processor. Samsung is also expected to roll out an Exynos 1000 processor in the coming months while it is also expected to be paired with the rumoured 150MP camera sensor for the upcoming smartphones from major brands.
