According to recent reports, the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP has won the 2020 Red Dot Design Award, one of the most prestigious design awards. The award was specifically handed to the team that is responsible for the Fireblade’s sketch design, clay modelling, digital simulation and were closely communicating on the matters.
The team behind the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade made everything happen through constant feedback and communication in the shortest time possible as well as took inspiration from the Honda Racing Corporation’s inputs in terms of improving the aerodynamics of the sports machine.
Commenting on receiving the award, Satoshi Kawawa, General Manager, Motorcycle Design Division, Honda stated: “The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP was developed to win races in any category – from club racing to international competition. Its design and styling are led by that philosophy – with every part and every detail designed with speed, performance and aerodynamic efficiency in mind. We’re honoured that it has been recognized with such a prestigious award,”
Powering the 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP is a 999cc, in-line, four-cylinder engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 212 bhp @ 14,500 rpm and an utmost torque of 113 Nm @ 12,500 rpm. The engine remains mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The motorcycle was unveiled back at the EICMA 2019 in Milan, Italy and features an aerodynamically strong design. The brand has equipped the motorcycle with a minimalistic design language while the strategically designed body fairings add on to its sporty characteristics as well as offers a better drag coefficient.
The combination of white, red and blue colour scheme adds to its stunning design while the aerodynamic winglets have been positioned in such a manner to increase the downforce and offer utmost stability while riding.
