New Yamaha R3, MT-03, R7, MT-07, and White R15 V4 Showcased in India

Yamaha appears to be bringing some of its larger motorcycles to India after a long absence. Bikes such as the R7 and MT-07 had been teased before but are now on display. The MT-09, MT-07, and MT-03 streetfighters and the R3 and R7 faired bikes were shown to dealers at an event. Yamaha plans to release all these motorcycles by the end of this year. In addition to all of these bikes, Yamaha also showcased a new all-white colour of the R15 V4, which is also expected to go on sale in India in the coming months.

The Yamaha MT-03 and R3 have a DOHC engine with a parallel-twin configuration that displaces 321cc and is coupled to a 6-speed transmission. 42 PS at 10,750 RPM and 29.6 Nm torque at 9,000 RPM are more than enough for this class. The MT-03 and R3’s main competitors are the KTM 390 Duke and the Kawasaki Ninja 300.

Yamaha’s mid-weight offerings, such as the R7 and MT-07,  are good for 73.4 PS at 8,750 RPM and 67 Nm torque at 6,500 RPM from their 689cc parallel twin motor. This engine also comes with a 6-speed transmission.

Both the R7 and the MT-07 gain a nicer TFT display with a slew of features. Extra features include dual 298mm and single 245mm disc brakes on the front and back, 120/70-17M front and 180/55-17M rear tyres, and a 14L fuel tank. The MT-07 weighs only 184 kg, while the R7 weighs 188 kg.

When it comes to Yamaha’s “Triple,” we have the MT-09. It has a 6-speed transmission and a 3-cylinder 890cc engine that produces 119 Horsepower at 10,000 RPM and 93 Nm of torque at 7,000 RPM. It has 41mm front USD forks, the same tyres as the MT-07, and weighs 189 kg with 14L of fuel. Pushing the power-to-weight ratio to new heights. The launch will take place shortly, and given that it is from Yamaha, the price may be on the pricier end of the scale.
