According to recent reports, Bajaj Auto has been capable of selling 163 units of Husqvarna motorcycles in the Indian market in February 2020. The brand has officially launched the Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 in India back in February while the bookings were already commenced with the dealerships way before that.
The 250cc motorcycles from the brand were the debutant products from the Swedish brand that were launched at an introductory price of INR 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom). In addition to the 250cc Husqvarnas, the brand is also set to bring the 401 series under its portfolio in the Indian markets shortly.
Based on the underpinnings of the KTM Duke 250, both the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 feature a 248cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is capable of offering maximum power of 31HP and a peak torque of 24Nm. Both the engine variants are mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch as standard.
The Svartpilen 250 features a scrambler motorcycle design language while the Vitpilen 250 has been imparted with a cafe racer-inspired design. Both the motorcycle variants feature disc brakes at either side while being mated to a dual-channel BOSCH ABS unit as standard.
The suspension duties on the 250cc Husqvarnas are handled by WP-sourced telescopic inverted forks at the front while the rear features a preload-adjustable monoshock unit. The customers can avail the Husqvarna 250cc motorcycles at selected KTM ProBiking dealerships across India.
The production of the motorcycles is carried out at Bajaj’s Chakan plant in Pune. At present, the 250cc variants of the Husqvarna motorcycles are only available across 100 KTM dealerships across 45 cities in the country though, the increased demand will further ensure the increased production and more dealerships to reach a wider fan base.
