Tata Motors Nexon EV maintained its lead in passenger electric car sales in July 2022, with 2,878 units sold compared to 680 units at the same time in 2021, representing a significant YoY volume increase of 323.2 per cent (combined sales of Nexon EV and Tigor EV). The electric SUV’s range was recently enhanced with the addition of the Nexon EV Max model, which has a bigger battery pack and a longer range.
Not only that but a number of additional features were also added to the standard model. The Nexon EV’s popularity has only grown in the last year or two, and this trend is projected to continue in the near future. Next on the list is the MG ZS EV with 263 units sold. However, this is 7 per cent less as compared to the 284 units in the same period last year.
It is interesting to see that the Hyundai Kona witnessed a significant rise of 163.6% with 58 units sold, which was only 22 in the same period in 2021. The next entry on the list is the BYD e6, which sold 44 units in July 2022, and it’s great because the EV is the Chinese brand’s first offering in the Indian electric car market. The list continues with the Mahindra eVerito, as there were 26 units of the electric car sold this year in July.
