The BS6 Honda Activa 125 is all set to be launched in India in the coming days. According to a recent report by IAB, the key specifications of the BS6-compliant scooter have been revealed ahead of its official launch. To meet the new emission norms that will be valid in India from April 1, 2020, the updated Honda Activa 125 will be subjected to a slightly reduced power output.
Powering the BS6 Honda Activa 125 will be a 124cc fuel-injected engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 8.29HP at 6500 rpm. The power output offered by the updated scooter is slightly less than the 8.63HP offered by the BS4-compliant model that is currently available across the country.
Honda has equipped the BS6 model of the Activa 125 with a lighter crankshaft as well as an offset piston that offers overall low friction. The brand has kept the combustion chamber of the scooter compact by offering reversed flow technology as well as an optimized inlet port shape. The Alternating Current Generator (ACG) system equipped on the updated 125cc scooter makes way for improved performance.
The BS6 Honda Activa 125 measures 1,850mm in length, 707mm in width, and 1,170mm in height. The customers can further avail the scooter with an optional steel wheel and alloy wheel setup. The 2019 Honda Activa 125 will feature the same 1260mm of wheelbase. The brand will be offering the scooter in three variants namely: front disc brake with alloy wheels, front drum brake with alloy wheels, and front drum brake with steel wheels.
At present the BS4-compliant Honda Activa 125 range starts from INR 60,627, going all the way up to INR 65,012 for the disc brake alloy wheel variant. One can expect the brand to price the BS6 Honda Activa 125 at a starting ex-showroom price tag of around INR 65,000. Honda has not revealed the details of other scooters that will be updated with BS6 engine as of yet.
