The new Bajaj Chetak has been recently launched in India at a starting price tag of INR 1 Lakh (ex-showroom). The scooter can be availed at the dealerships in Pune and Bengaluru while the bookings for the e-scooter have also commenced online at the product’s official website at a token amount of INR 2,000. The customers can complete the digital booking process on the website easily while deliveries are expected to commence by the end of January 2020.
The first-ever electric scooter from the brand with a resurrected name, the Bajaj Chetak features a neo-retro design language while is available to the customers in two variants namely: Urbane and Premium. The competitor to the likes of Ather 450, the new Bajaj Chetak features LED headlight mated to LED DRLs. The brand has further equipped its electric scooter with an all-digital instrument console compatible with mobile devices via Bluetooth connectivity.
The smart digital console allows the rider to connect his smartphone with it via a dedicated application that offers apt riding statistics including the live location as well as other necessary information. The scooter has been further equipped with MRF Zapper-K tubeless tyres shod with 12-inch alloy wheels.
The electric scooter draws power from the IP67-rated lithium-ion battery further mated to a 4kW electric motor that is capable of generating maximum power of 5.47HP and a peak torque of 16Nm. The e-scooter can be further operated in two riding modes namely Eco and Sport, promising a range of 95km and 85km respectively. The battery can be fully charged to 100% in just 5 hours via a standard household electric outlet while requires only 1 hour to be charged till 25%.
The braking duties on the Chetak Premium are handled by a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear while the Urbane variant has been equipped with a front drum brake setup. The scooter gets a single-sided trailing arm unit at the front while the rear wheel has been equipped with a monoshock unit. The brand is offering the Bajaj Chetak electric with a three year/50,000 km warranty as well as three free services.
The customers can avail the Bajaj Chetak Urbane in Citrus Rush and Cyber White colour variants while the more elegant Bajaj Chetak Premium can be availed in the market in Velluto Rosso, Indigo Metallic, Hazelnut and Brooklyn Black colour variants.
