The all-new Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has been recently launched by the brand at an event in India. Built on an electric powertrain, the brand has resurrected the Chetak tag name for its debut product in the electric scooter segment.
Featuring a retro-inspired design, the Bajaj Chetak has been officially launched under the brand’s all-new Urbanite venture. The reports suggest the brand to reveal the pricing details of the new Bajaj Chetak at an event in Pune in January next year though, the Bajaj officials have promised to keep the price tag attractive and competitive.
In addition to this, the new electric scooter from the brand will also classify for the FAME II subsidy scheme offered by the Indian government. Bajaj Auto has also launched the official website of the new Chetak and the brand has also released an official video of the scooter.
The all-new Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is expected to feature an IP67-rated lithium-ion battery while the brand has equipped it with a 4kW electric motor. There is no confirmation whether the battery pack will be removable though, considering the officially revealed images, the chances remain to be thin.
The electric scooter will allow the riders to operate it in two riding modes namely: Eco and Sport, which are expected to offer a range of 95km and 85km respectively. Apart from this, the brand has also equipped the scooter with a reverse assist feature.
The battery pack can be charged via the 5-ampere home socket while the brand is also expected to offer a home-charging station at minimal prices. The electric scooter further requires 5 hours for a full charge.
Coming to the designing bits, the brand has kept the retro styling of the new Bajaj Chetak intact though, the distinguished graphics have been given a miss to ensure the classy and authentic style language.
In addition to this, the scooter has been equipped with complete LED lighting setup while it gets round LED DRLs surrounding the front headlight. The wide front apron style inspired from the Yamaha Fascino adds to its superior looks while the fully-digital instrument panel adds to the rider’s convenience.
The advanced technology of the electric vehicle further matches perfectly with the steel body design. The suspension duties are handled by a single-sided trailing arm unit at the front while the rear has been equipped with a monoshock unit.
The Bajaj Chetak electric features a front disc brake and a rear drum brake along with MRF Zapper-K tubeless tyres. The instrument console can be further connected to the rider’s smartphone and offers real-time riding dynamics in addition to offering the utmost security.
The brand has unveiled the all-new Bajaj Chetak in 4 different colours including Red, Gold, Ivory and Blue. The brand will be offering the e-scooter from its existing retail network in the Indian market.
