It’s Official: Tata Tigor is the name of Tiago sedan

Tata has officially announced that the name for Tiago sedan is Tigor that was known by the codename Kite5. Based purely on the currently selling Tata Tiago, the new car comes with an extended boot that looks perfectly integrated to the C-pillar. Apart from looking similar to the peppy hatchback, Tata Motors have implanted few differences that may define its own identity after the official launch. The rear end of Tata Tigor features chrome strip running uninterrupted between both the taillights.

Tata Tigor will share most of its parts with the Tiago hatchback. The interior quality will stay the same while there are chances that the company may use a different interior shade for easy differentiation. The car may even get touchscreen infotainment system on the top spec model. It will get a different set of machine finished alloy wheels. The car will get class leading 420 liters of boot space, making it more effective than most other cars around its price segment. Features like additional armrest and climate control will make it even more appealing than ever.

Tigor will use the same set of engines that powers Tata Tiago in the Indian market. The engines on offer include 1.2 liter, 3-cylinder petrol motor that produces 85 HP and 1.05 liter, 3-cylinder diesel motor producing 70 HP. The car will carry a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard while Tata may offer the AMT gearbox on a later stage. They can place the Tigor for a starting price of under INR 5 lakh, making it the most affordable compact sedan in the country. Tata Tigor will rival the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Ford Figo, and Toyota Etios.
