One of the recent automotive leaks revealed that TVS Motor is working on the 650cc motorcycle platform for India. It will also be a great upgrade option for the existing TVS customers to upgrade to the new brand’s 600cc to 750cc bike. There’re currently not options beyond Apache RR 310 that comes with a 310cc mill.
Despite TVS having not confirmed the model in any official capacity, it is in the works with a new 600cc to 750cc motorcycle. However, the new flagship product from the company will be powered by a twin cylindert engine and the power and torque output may even be better than its competitors.
Only time will tell what body style TVS will opt for on its new flagship. Alternatively, it could begin with one offering—say, a roadster—or it could launch many body styles simultaneously. The same platform may be used to consider other body styles of the brand depending on market response.
It is obvious that TVS will require an array of products from this 600-750cc segment. This segment has competitors like Royal Enfield consistently expanding their own portfolio. After the Super Meteor 650, Royal Enfield will roll out other 650ccs in the coming months. Another feather in TVS’ new flagship’s cap will be competing with Jawa and Yezdi’s 650cc bikes.
There is still no word on whether TVS’ new flagship will be developed outright or as a collaborative effort with another party. TVS acquired a British brand, Norton Motorcycles, in April 2020. Not that Norton doesn’t already have a huge choice of large motorcycles. Norton’s experience will almost certainly be involved in that upcoming TVS motorcycle.
Already TVS has started positioning itself as a lifestyle brand. An example of this is Ronin, or community based events becoming more important. At the recently concluded 2023 MotoSoul, the brand exhibited four incredible custom builds of Ronin! It also unveiled an updated connectivity platform at the event. The launch of the new type of racing format Flat Track Racing could be seen as TVS Racing’s contribution.
In addition, the new bike will be passively promoted through the TVS Racing Performance Gear division. All of these will help sculpt the environment to launch the new TVS flagship into.
